The things people ask us most

Grouped into three: getting started, moving around Sittingbourne and Swale, and taking a move across to Europe. If your question isn’t here, just ask — a straight answer costs nothing.

Getting started

Which areas do you cover around Sittingbourne?

Sittingbourne and all of Swale — Milton Regis, Kemsley, Murston, and out to Iwade and Bapchild (ME10 and ME9). We’re a Sittingbourne firm, so it’s the patch we work day in, day out.

How do you work out a quote?

We start from what you tell us — how many bedrooms, floors, lift or stairs, anything big or fragile — then confirm it with a quick video walk-round or a visit before anything is fixed. How much there is, how far it’s going and how easy the access is are what shape the figure. Your written quote spells out what’s included.

Can you move a piano?

Yes — pianos are one of the things people most often ask us about. Uprights and grands both, with the right crew, straps and care. Tell us the type and where it’s going (up or down stairs, tight doorways) at the survey and we’ll plan it properly.

Can you handle a move abroad as well as a local one?

We can. The same team that moves a house across Sittingbourne also loads for France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. The trip abroad just adds a route plan and the customs paperwork on top — we handle that part for you.

Moving around Sittingbourne & Swale

My street’s a Victorian terrace with no drive — is that a problem?

Not for us — it’s a lot of Sittingbourne. The older streets around the town and Milton Regis are narrow terraces with on-street parking. We check the access when we quote, sort a bay suspension or a cone-off with Swale Council where the load-in needs it, and bring a smaller van to shuttle if the lorry can’t get close.

Do you move to and from the new estates in Kemsley and Iwade?

All the time. The newer estates are an easier access as a rule — driveways and wider roads — though sometimes a long carry from the kerb or a lift booking in an apartment block. We plan for whichever you’re in.

Can you do office and business moves in the area?

We do — small offices, shops and studios around Sittingbourne and the Swale business parks. Those usually run in the evening or over a weekend so nobody loses a working day, and we sequence the load so the essentials come off the van first.

Do you offer storage if my dates don’t line up?

Yes. If completion slips or there’s a gap between homes, we can hold your things and deliver when you’re ready. It’s a normal part of a lot of Kent chains, so mention it early and we’ll build it into the plan.

How far ahead should I book?

As soon as you’ve a likely date. Fridays and month-ends go first because that’s when completions cluster, so the earlier you talk to us the more say you have over the day. Working to a tight turnaround? Tell us and we’ll be straight about what’s doable.

Moving to Europe

What happens with customs now the UK has left the EU?

There’s paperwork on both sides now — an inventory, a transit declaration for the goods crossing the EU, and transfer-of-residence forms where they apply. We prepare it with you and lodge what needs lodging. It’s a process, not a wall, and it’s the part we handle so you don’t have to learn it.

Do you fill a whole lorry, or can I share the space?

Both. A full home usually takes a dedicated load. Moving less — a flat, part of a house, or you’re in no rush — a part-load puts your things on a vehicle already heading that way. Your quote will say which suits what you’re sending.

How long will an international move take to arrive?

It depends on the route, the crossing, whether it’s a dedicated or shared load, and customs clearance at the other end. Rather than quote a figure that turns out wrong, your written quote gives an estimated window and we keep you posted as the load moves.

Which countries do you move to?

The four we run regularly are France, Italy, Spain and Portugal — we know those roads, the crossings and the customs steps. Thinking of somewhere else in Europe? Ask anyway and we’ll tell you honestly whether we can plan it well.
